Edit tweet option is slowly rolling out

The social network Twitter is filling headlines these days. First, Elon Musk announced that he would like Twitter to introduce the option to change the content of tweets after their posting. After that, he bought 9.2% of the shares of this social network for huge money and then refused to become a member of the executive board of that company.

This, as he calls himself, “free speech absolutist”, or fighter for absolute freedom of speech, did everything according to plan, to enable a maneuver called “hostile takeover”, where for each section a higher price than the current one is offered to enable taking over the majority of the company without the consent of all shareholders. So Elon Musk seems to want to become a Wolf of Twitter, just without all the illicit means.

The unfolding of this story is still not near the end, but the “edit” functionality is returning to the forefront, as if the leaders of this social network want to slightly divert attention, if at all possible, from Elon Mask’s film corporate maneuvers. At full speed until the edit, it would be said, and now there are the first allegations as to how it could all look exactly.

Introducing such functionality on a social network like Twitter, where the user has been holding on to the unchanged word for years, is not as simple as it seems at first glance. Certainly, it is not easier for developers employed within this company to enable the change of the content of one tweet.

But, it is not a question of ability, but of the very principle on which this social network is based. What prevents users from simply changing their original message if they encounter disapproval of the world and then go crazy? With standard messaging functionality – no one.

That is why the social network Twitter will most likely take a different position. Users will be able to change the content of the message, for example, to correct a grammatical or spelling mistake, but everyone will have access to a complete history of changing a particular message for inspection, to avoid potential social malversations.

So, you won’t be able to hide everything, because the entire mini-history of your modified tweets is available with the click of a button. Certain users have already noticed the existence of the “edit” option within the application at this time, but they still cannot use it. So, implementation is close.

But what does Mr. Elon think about that?
