At the end of March, ACM said it was evaluating Apple’s new proposal after fining the Cupertino company $55 million late last year. Now Apple is reportedly facing additional penalties after even a new proposal was not accepted.

So 9to5Mac reports that Apple’s latest proposal has been rejected. It was stated the ACM stated in its decision that Apple’s proposal was an “improvement” compared to its previous ideas, but that it was still “not good enough to comply with European and Dutch regulations.”

Apple submitted the latest proposal on March 27, 2022. With it, Apple suggested that it would be possible to use the “or” payment system in the App Store, which means either Apple’s or a third-party payment system.

Apple also stated in the proposal that those developers who would use alternative payment systems would still owe Apple 27% of commissions on sales in the App Store, compared to 30% of what Apple takes from developers when using their payment system.

And while Apple is not happy with this outcome of the situation, a group of companies gathered around Epic Games and Spotify welcomed this decision by ACM.
