Like some other messaging apps, WhatsApp has a limit on the size of files that can be sent on this platform, but that could change soon.
In most cases, photos are not significantly affected by this limitation, but if you want to send a video or document of a certain size, it will be rejected. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing an option that will allow users to send files up to 2GB in size. Some users in Argentina have received a message informing them that the file size can now go up to the mentioned 2GB.
Prior to this change, users had a file size limit of 100MB. WhatsApp has been the target of numerous criticisms in the past for significantly compressing photos, so enabling larger files to be sent will potentially offer users better quality photos as well as larger video files, all without the use of alternative methods.
