Users of the popular app for texting on tablets did not have an interface adapted to larger screens but were forced to use the one found on mobile phones. However, the latest beta version of WhatsApp (2.22.21.6) brings an interface optimized for Android tablets, i.e. ‘split view’.
Namely, when users opened conversations on the version of WhatsApp for tablets, the chat view would take up the entire screen. This is perfectly acceptable on mobile phones due to the smaller screens, but tablets have room for the app’s interface to look like the web version – the contacts section on the left and the chat on the right.
This is exactly what this beta version of WhatsApp brings, which is likely to appeal to users who use it on their Android tablets. The portal WABetaInfo has published how the optimized interface looks in practice.
