NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card was unveiled at CES 2022, and the company said more information will come later that month. However, time is passing and we still haven’t heard anything official about the company’s premium graphics cards. We are left with rumors as the best way to find out what is happening behind the scenes and the reasons for the unlimited delay.

The delay is primarily attributed to the supply of leading Ampere GA102 GPUs and PCB components. Based on previous reports, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will use the PG136C PCB which is an updated version of the RTX 3090 Founders Edition design. According to the latest rumors, NVIDIA is still facing some problems with memory modules and they are now being replaced.

We don’t know what the specific problem is, but we know that the graphics card will have the fastest GDDR6X matrices ever produced with transfer speeds of up to 21 Gbps, also in dual capacity configurations (2 GB vs. 1 GB).

This, along with compliance with the new PCIe Gen 5 standard, means that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will be a completely different beast compared to the RTX 3090 Non-Ti, but all these changes have led to long delays, something even NVIDIA has not been able to avoid. Now, it is rumored that the card looks set to be launched on March 29, which is the end of this month, and will be just in time before AMD refreshes its own line of RDNA 2 Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards with a brand new premium model, the RX 6950 XT, next month.

In addition to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, rumors also state that NVIDIA has now more or less canceled its 16 GB graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. The 16 GB card was indeed ready, based on data we saw earlier, but it seems that NVIDIA does not see as much demand for this variant and will only wait for the next generation parts to be replaced when they arrive on the shelves, around September 2022.
