Microsoft is updating the Windows taskbar, which stayed the same for years. A new weather and news taskbar widget on Windows 10 is available today. The widget also expands to a feed of news, stocks, sports, and weather.
The mini-feed of content appears when you activate the widget, and it can be personalized with the information you want to see. Microsoft is using its Microsoft News to show news and content from more than 4,500 sources, and the company AI is showing only relevant information to you.

If you have no interest in this new widget, then it’s easy to disable, or if you are only interested in weather, you can simply keep the weather information appearing in the taskbar.
Microsoft has been testing this new taskbar widget since January, and it’s surprising to see how fast the feature is implemented and released to the public. The company is also planning 21H1 and 21H2 updates for Windows 10 this year, but this new taskbar feature is available for Windows 10 users running on version 1909 or above.
