A user of the Xiaomi China Forum noticed that his Xiaomi Mi 10T has LPDDR5 type RAM, but when he did a benchmark test, the results gave the speeds of LPDDR4 type RAM.
This report comes from the XiaomiUI team, and to their knowledge, this problem with RAM is present not only in the Mi 10T but also on almost all Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 870 devices.
LPDDR5 RAM technology allows RAM speeds of up to 4 GBPS. The ability to manage faster means better performance. However, the problem noticed by the mentioned user is that the Mi 10T device with LPDDR5 RAM technology provides a significantly slower speed than it should.
Specifically, the results show a speed of 1.5 GBPS while it should be 4 GBPS, which is a difference of 2.5 times.
A user of the Xiaomi community “tryigitx” was the first to report benchmark results on the Mi 10T, and many users said they had the same problem with RAM speed.
Another Redmi user shared the Benchmark results of his Redmi K20 (the global version is called the Mi 9T). In the joint benchmark results, the Redmi K20 achieves 2.9 GBPS. This showed that the RAM speed of the Mi 10T is even slower than the Mi 9T that uses LPDDR4X.
As a result of his research, the same user realized that the speed of RAM is limited via the kernel. RAM value should otherwise be DDR13, but Xiaomi is limited to DDR11.
We do not know why Xiaomi decided on this move, but this is not the first time he has cheated and concealed the actual results.
