WhatsApp announced that support for several new features has been enabled through the latest update.
Support is enabled for reactions, the size of files that can be transferred has been increased, and more members for groups have been supported.
This means that group conversations will be less crowded with reactions; instead of 100MB now the limit for transferring files is 2GB; the ability to add up to 512 people to group chats will allow businesses to use WhatsApp in no more ways.
In 2011 we introduced Group Chats, and we haven't stopped improving since. In the coming weeks, we'll roll out the ability to share files up to 2GB and add more people to your groups so you can continue creating and nurturing meaningful, private connections. https://t.co/mcJpQVIVTU

Adding reactions to WhatsApp comes just a month after Telegram was given the same function. Being able to respond to messages with reactions will allow users to not leave frequently written reactions, which will reduce congestion in the conversation itself.
Another new feature is sending files up to 2GB in size. The previous limit was 100MB, which is very little for today’s conditions. Interestingly, Telegram introduced a 2GB limit for files back in July 2020.
In the end, WhatsApp has increased the number of people who can participate in one conversation and it is now 512. This time, WhatsApp has not copied Telegram, because this platform since 2019 allows groups with up to 200,000 members.
