We are all aware of how much the popularity of the TikTok app has grown in the last few years, initially a platform predicted to fail, and today the most popular in the world. But with all this popularity and the sheer number of people actively spending time on the platform, it becomes difficult to filter out content, comments, and general behavior from people who don’t have the best intentions.

TikTok is now testing a “dislike” button to help users “feel more in control of the comments”. Users in testing may not like comments they find irrelevant or inappropriate. The social media giant presented this new feature in a blog post about encouraging kindness and security on the platform.
This effort aims to continue to create true engagement for TikTok users.
“To avoid creating ill-feeling between community members or demoralizing creators, only the person who registered a dislike on a comment will be able to see that they have done so.”
TikTok also sends reminders to direct creators to their options for filtering comments and group blocking and deleting. As part of TikTok’s security initiative, these reminders are aimed at creators who receive a lot of negative comments.
