The first functional Android phone with Lightning (VIDEO)

In 2021, engineer Ken Pillonel created the world's first iPhone with a functional USB-C port. His latest project now brings us the first Android phone with a Lightning connector.

However, the project itself is not a joke and it was not easy to achieve. The lightning port on the Android phone (in this case Samsung Galaxy A51) is fully functional, both for charging and data transfer.

The lightning cables that Apple sells are not nonsense. They only charge Apple devices. So I had to find a way to trick the cable into “thinking” that it was connected to an Apple device. And the whole mechanism has to fit into the phone, which is just it was a challenge for myself, “Pillonel said.

Pillonel points out that he does not expect anyone normally to do this to their device. He did it just to see if it was possible and to have fun.
