A big emphasis of this redesign is on images and vertical scrolling, which transforms the home screen from a list of album covers into a feed more akin to Instagram and TikTok

Spotify seems to want to be more than just a music app, at least as far as they can tell from their announcement after the Stream On event.

Opening the Spotify app’s home page will now display personalized, curated previews of songs, podcasts, and audiobooks you might like below your existing album art and playlists.

Said content is automatically played to give users feedback as soon as possible, and vertical scrolling becomes a useful tool for discovering new and interesting content.

“Our data shows that more listeners become dedicated fans after previewing what they’re going to listen to,” they state, which justifies the fact that they’re focusing more on the visual part of the user experience this time around.
