Last month, information emerged that Vivo could unveil the Vivo X80 Pro phone, which should feature Sony’s main IMX8 series camera sensor, which has yet to be unveiled. Now there is information that the Japanese company is preparing another camera sensor for smartphones, which could be a sensor from the IMX9 series.
Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station reports that Sony is preparing a new main camera sensor for smartphones that will be a member of the IMX9 series. It could be IMX989. Leaker reports that it is a 50 MP sensor and that it will be close to 1”.
This sensor could make its debut on Xiaomi’s next flagship phone, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. In addition to this sensor, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra should also have a 48 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 48 MP 5x telephoto sensor, while data on the fourth sensor is not known. There has been talking about this phone for some time, but Xiaomi has not yet announced when it will be introduced.
Thus, information emerged that Xiaomi could also cooperate with the well-known German company Leica regarding Xiaomi 12 Ultra cameras, but it is not known how much that cooperation will be. It is possible that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will only use some Leica filters, or that this is the kind of cooperation that Huawei has with the German company, in the sense that Leica dictates the photographic capabilities of the phone.
In addition to these details, it was revealed that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra could have a 2K curved screen with a hole at the top, which will house the front camera. The screen refresh rate will be 120 Hz and will come with HDR 10+ support. The phone will reportedly also have a 4860 mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging and 50W fast wireless charging.
