Samsung has officially announced an upgrade to the Samsung Internet 17.0 web browser that brings new privacy and security features targeted at the user. The latest version includes a Smart anti-tracking feature and HTTPS priority access set by default.
Also, the overall user experience has been enhanced with drag-and-drop tabs in the browser and additional options when choosing a language to translate, all to meet different user needs.
“With each new generation of Samsung Internet, we are committed to creating a superior browsing experience that never compromises privacy or security. Samsung Internet 17.0 is the result of many years of research to ensure that the most powerful and secure browsing experience so far reaches all Galaxy users, ” said Heejin Chung, Web R&D Group Manager in MX (Mobile eXperience) Business, Samsung Electronics.
Privacy by default
Samsung Internet 17.0 enhances the intelligent Smart anti-tracking feature that can now be turned on by default.
This intelligent feature helps block third parties from tracking users’ personal information. Users can also activate a more secure HTTPS setting for added protection when typing the desired URL on Samsung’s browser.
Quick and easy access to private activities
Samsung Internet 17.0 provides a comprehensive overview of how the Samsung browser protects the web user experience. In addition to Samsung Internet 17.0, a visual snapshot of the user privacy dashboard is also available through the Quick Access page for quick access. This offers a detailed record of weekly activities and settings that can be customized to suit each user’s privacy preferences.
Samsung Internet 17.0 provides the ability to use an external security system or security keys on the device to replace SMS or two-factor authentication.
Stronger user experience
The latest Samsung web browser update also includes several enhancements to the overall user experience, such as the ability to drag and drop tabs into custom tab groups. This enhancement makes navigating and organizing between different tabs faster and easier.
Samsung Internet 17.0 also brings an enriched search experience through bookmarks, history, and saved pages. The browser detects common user typing errors. It can process various word-based matching queries from a database based on bookmarks and saved pages to find phrases or entire sentences.
In addition, phonetic matching also makes it possible to search for specific terms based on how they sound. Translation capabilities have been enhanced by the addition of five languages, increasing the total number of available languages to 26.
