This is not surprising news, as we know that we should simply follow the trends and switch to new (current) smartphone models. However, we will point it out and simply say that Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + no longer receive software support (upgrades) from Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9 + models are from the flagship class of 2018 and are the direct successors of the Galaxy S8 / S8 + line, which proved to be as top-notch as any Galaxy S model.
This is not a surprising path as we know that in early 2021 Samsung decided to move Galaxy S9 / S9 + models from monthly to quarterly updates and now a year later the full software support for Samsung Galaxy S models from 2018 is discontinued.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phablet, which also no longer boasts software support, would join this list. Of course, if there is an owner among you (and we believe there is because the Galaxy S9 is still a top model smartphone) Galaxy S9 / S9 + line custom support will still be there depending on how many developers will be in the mood (depending on demand) to develop software for Galaxy S9 .
Furthermore, the current version of Android for Galaxy S9 models is Android 10 and the latest One UI user interface is 2.5. This is a good warning for all owners of Galaxy S10 / S10 + models, because these models, like the Galaxy Note 10, are switching from monthly software releases to support every three months.
This method of support mainly represents security support, ie issuing upgrades if “some problems” occur, followed by a complete cessation of software support, the same example that befell the Galaxy S9 / S9 + models.
Simply this scenario is inevitable because in order for users (customers) to switch to newer smartphone models and in order for their user experience to be in line with the times they are working hard from Samsung. Although we know that Samsung will never come close to Apple when it comes to software support.
Apple is synonymous with software support and what we can say is that a great effort has been made to get as close to it as possible. This is evidenced by the recent statement of Samsung (which has been achieved) and concerns four years of software and five years of security support.
