Samsung today announced its earnings in the first quarter of 2022, which was impressive, to say the least. The company generated record revenue of $ 61.19 billion and a profit of $ 11.10 billion.
It goes without saying that Samsung’s existing foldable smartphones will get successors later this year. Samsung’s CEO also confirmed that the company is busy developing its next foldable phones. After that statement, the question arises: when will the mentioned devices arrive?
During earnings reporting in the first quarter of 2022, Samsung’s vice president of mobile business Kim Sung-koo hinted at upcoming foldable smartphones. “Currently, we are all busy preparing new collapsible devices, the presentation of which is planned for the second half of the year,” he said.
It also added that Samsung is striving to make foldable devices (along with the Galaxy S series, of course) a major pillar in the business. This shows how serious Samsung is about folding smartphones and how it sees them as an opportunity to grow its business.
No other smartphone maker has been as serious about folding phones as Samsung. And this can be seen in the results, significant improvements have been made to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, and the new models are also expected to be even better for the class.
Whether Samsung will eventually expand the line remains to be seen. There have been rumors of a more affordable Galaxy Z Fold Lite model. However, those rumors disappeared very quickly. Adding more models to the offer can help Samsung achieve its ultimate goal with these devices, but what will be on remains to be seen.
