Google is set to fully reveal the Pixel 9 series and more at tomorrow’s event, but leaks continue to surface. A recent post has disclosed additional details about Google’s upcoming Pixel Buds Pro 2, marking the introduction of the first Tensor chip in this lineup.
Previous leaks about the Pixel Buds Pro 2 have already hinted at new colors, the same charging case, and a redesigned earbud with wing tips. There’s also talk of a higher price and a delayed launch in September. However, there hasn’t been much information about what’s changing with the new earbuds.
@MysteryLupin has shed some light on the Pixel Buds Pro 2’s specs, including the debut of the “Tensor A1” audio chip. This chip is expected to power Google’s new earbuds, providing “twice the Active Noise Cancellation” compared to the original Pixel Buds Pro, addressing a common complaint. What else the Tensor A1 chip might offer remains unclear.
The original Pixel Buds Pro was also partially powered by a custom Google chip without the Tensor branding. Additionally, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are said to “seamlessly connect with your Pixel” devices, likely referring to Fast Pair and multi-device features that previously appeared on the Buds Pro.
The leak also mentions a potential decrease in battery life. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are reported to last 8 hours on the buds and 30 hours with the case. This is a reduction from 11 hours on the buds and 31 hours with the case, possibly indicating battery life with ANC off. If these figures are for ANC off, it would be a downgrade; if for ANC on, it would be a significant improvement.
The retail source also highlights a “twist to adjust” stabilizer wing and a new Pixel Buds app feature that tracks how loud your music is being played.
