Samsung might release its next big software update – One UI 8, based on Android 16—as soon as July 2025. If that happens, it would likely launch alongside the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
That’s a much faster turnaround compared to last year. One UI 7, which ran on Android 15, didn’t get a beta until December 2024. The final version is only just now rolling out, months after Google finished Android 15.
This time, though, Samsung seems to be moving quicker. Internal testing for One UI 8 has already started, which could mean updates will arrive earlier than usual—possibly even for upcoming phones like the Galaxy S25.
Part of the reason might be Google speeding things up too. Android 16 is expected to launch in June or July, and Samsung seems ready to take advantage. If all goes as planned, some of their new phones could be among the first to ship with Android 16 out of the box.
