The update now allows you to change the default browser on the operating system using the one-click method. In this way, Microsoft has responded to criticism from those who say that Windows is imposing Microsoft Edge on users.
The new cumulative update is marked KB5012592 and arrives on Windows 11 devices as part of the “April 2022 Patch Tuesday” cycle.
Interestingly, Microsoft does not mention specific improvements to browser selection in its review of the latest update. Instead, it mentions that the security update includes enhancements that were part of an earlier KB5011563 update, which introduced a new option in Settings – changing the default web browser.
