Instagram just released a new video editing app called Edits. It’s now available for both Android and iOS.
The app is made for creators and works a lot like CapCut, the popular editor from TikTok’s parent company. You can manage video projects, jot down ideas, and even see how your videos perform.
What makes Edits different from Instagram’s built-in tools is that it offers more advanced features. You can do things like:
- Turn photos into animations using AI
- Replace backgrounds with a green screen effect
- Cut out people or objects from images
Instagram’s boss, Adam Mosseri, says the app is similar to CapCut but is more focused on creators. He thinks it’ll grow into something unique over time, even if it doesn’t attract everyone.
Instagram also plans to add more tools soon—like keyframes, more AI features, and ways for multiple people to edit the same video.
