Instagram is testing a new way of browsing content according to the hashtag, which will remove the “Recent” tab for recent posts, Instagram Comms announced on its official Twitter.
“For a small group, we’re testing more recent and timely content in ‘Top’ and ‘Reels’ tabs in hashtags and removing the ‘Recent’ tab. We want to see if this helps people connect with more interesting and relevant content on hashtags, while also keeping them across what’s current.”
the company wrote.
So Instagram will remove the tab that showed users’ recent posts with a certain hashtag, regardless of the likes, and will leave only its copy of TikTok and the content display card with the most likes. Namely, the change should be in the display of “newer and more timely” content in the “Top” tab.
Recall, hashtag tags have arrived on Instagram as an innovative way to highlight new trends. Now that it’s all “stuffed”, users use hashtags mostly as one way to get likes and new followers.
