Huawei has started its MWC hardware announcements with two new Windows 11 laptops – the Matebook X Pro 2022 and Matebook E. The first new flagship is an ultraportable laptop in the brand’s portfolio, while the Matebook E is a compact 2-in-1 running Windows 11.

The Matebook X Pro 2022 brings a 14.2-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 3120 x 2080 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and an aspect ratio of 3: 2. Huawei says this is the best panel ever mounted on a laptop. It can produce 500 nits and covers the entire spectrum of P3 colors. The top frame is only 6 mm thin and has an integrated HD webcam. The laptop has a metal construction and weighs only 1.38 kg. It is 15.5 mm at its thickest point. Huawei has also equipped a laptop with six speakers.

Intel’s 11-gen Rocket Lake chipsets are the basis, along with the Iris Xe integrated GPU. You get 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 1TB M2 SSD. The cooling system consists of three air inlets, dual fans, and WC modules for heat dissipation. There are also four USB-C ports (two USB 3.2) and a headphone jack. The laptop comes with a 90W GaN USB-C charger that weighs only 180 grams.

If you want to carry a thinner device to be more productive, then the 2-in-1 Matebook E might interest you. It’s a Windows 11 tablet that turns into a laptop via the included keyboard case. The Matebook E has a 12.6-inch OLED with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. There is an 8 MP front camera and a 13 MP rear camera. The device is only 7.9 mm thick and weighs 709 grams. It has a magnesium alloy frame and a textured glass back.

Intel’s 11-gen core i5 and i7 chipsets lead the hardware system, along with Iris XE graphics. You get 8/16 GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256/512 GB PCIe NVMe SSDs. One potential pitfall is limited I / O – you only get one USB-C port that supports Thunderbolt 4 and a headphone jack.

The MateBook E supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. It also has a 42Wh battery that charges to 65W via the included charger. You get four speakers and four microphones, as well as support for the second-generation Huawei M-Pencil pen.
