These days, when you are probably actively thinking about what will surprise your better half, you will be interested in the extremely attractive Huawei Freebuds Lipstick wireless headphones with ANC noise suppression technology with a comfortable open-fit design.
Huawei Freebuds Lipstick wireless headphones are based on the equally interesting Freebuds 4 headphones, which I also enjoyed listening to. They, therefore, share with them all the key features such as very good sound quality, active suppression of ambient noise, and very good autonomy.
Here, however, the greatest focus is on the design. With it, Huawei clearly targeted the female audience.
Huawei has hit on with the choice of colors, materials, and the unique shape of the filling box, which very successfully mimics lipstick of premium quality.
HUAWEI FREEBUDS LIPSTICK BOX
The box is made of metal and leaves a great impression on the hand. At the bottom is a USB C for charging and a pairing button. The lid is held firmly by magnets so there is no fear of it opening when you don’t want to. Inside, the headphones themselves are in bright red, so the impression of lipsticks is even greater.
The headphones with their long necks sit in their slots and also hold the magnets firmly and will not fall out. They are also filled there, so they are always ready to use.
This is the so-called open-fit design of the headphones, without silicone plugs on the top, so they sit comfortably in the ears and do not burden the listener even after several hours of listening. As a result, it will fall out of your ears more easily during sudden movements, and the suppression of the surrounding noise is also weaker. It will try to compensate for this with active noise suppression technology, which will significantly reduce autonomy, but you can also turn it off.
Each handset is equipped with three microphones, which will ensure quite good quality hands-free phone calls.
Upstairs is a sensor that tells them whether they are in the ear or not. So when you pull them out your ear will automatically pause the music and restart it when you put them back. All this is done by the capable Kirin A1 chip.
They also have touch sensors for music control and ANC. By double-tapping the left and right handsets, you can start and pause music playback, receive and end calls. A longer press will activate and deactivate the ANC, and a slide on the neck of the handset will adjust the volume. You will control these gestures through the Huawei AI Life app on a paired phone, which doesn’t necessarily have to be with the Huawei logo.
They are equipped with IPx4 waterproof certification so they will survive sweat and rain if they have to. They are not for immersion underwater.
Freebuds Lipstick is paired with up to two devices simultaneously via Bluetooth 5.2. You can pair them with your mobile phone and laptop at the same time. If you receive a call on your phone while using the headset with your laptop, it will automatically switch to your phone.
14.3mm speakers ensure very good sound, and with three microphones they intelligently adjust the active suppression of noise from the environment. The AI Life application settings offer two settings – Comfortable and General, where the latter is intended for noisy environments.
The sound quality and ANC are generally very good, but still not at the level of in-ear headphones with silicone earbuds, which in themselves muffle the surrounding noise and lie better in the ear canal. Again, the size of the ear plays a big role, so some will fit better than others.
It should be noted that you can use only one handset if it is practical for you at some point.
The quality of phone calls through them is also quite good even in windy conditions.
Each headset is equipped with a 30mAh battery and on one charge they promise up to 2.5 hours of listening to music with the ANC on or up to 4 hours with the ANC off and at 50% volume. This was confirmed during several weeks of testing.
The box has its own 410mAh battery that recharges the headphones every time you insert them and combined it will offer up to 14 hours of listening and up to 22 hours of listening without ANC. Charging the headphones in the box up to 100% takes an hour, and charging the box on the charger takes the same amount.
You can pair them with Huawei phones but also with other Androids and iPhones. You really don’t need anything to pair it, but the AI Life app will come in handy for managing the settings. Find it in the App Gallery store, which you can also easily download to your Android phone.
OUR RATING HUAWEI FREEBUDS LIPSTICK
Huawei Freebuds Lipstick is clearly designed for women with their design, but I don’t see why men shouldn’t use them as well. Design is definitely their biggest asset.
Everyone who doesn’t like the feeling of hermetic separation from the environment, which is often caused by headphones with silicone earplugs, will also like it.
Music, call, and volume playback control gestures are intuitive and reliable. Pairing with other devices is very easy, and they are compatible with all Android and iPhone devices.
Autonomy is very good, but there are definitely headphones that offer better autonomy.
