When viewing an image in fullscreen, a new floating action button appears above the main edit button. Google is testing two icons for this feature: one is a magnifying glass with an AI sparkle, similar to the Files app’s Smart Search icon, and the other is the familiar Google Lens logo. Currently, Circle to Search does not have an official icon.

Tapping this button launches Circle to Search, eliminating the need to long-press on the navigation handle. This action sends the full image to Circle to Search without showing any Files by Google interface.

This Circle to Search feature is a server-side update for beta users of the Files by Google app. Additionally, the latest beta version (1.4515.x) reveals the upcoming “AI-generated summaries” feature for files containing text. Users will be able to enable or disable this feature in Settings, and it will likely utilize on-device Gemini Nano.
