This dangerous malware steals data and bank account information from Android users and then entices them to enter their data in a window that mimics a legitimate form.

Once the account is infected, the malware takes control of much of the victim’s device. Check Point researchers found a total of six malicious applications, which infected at least 100 individual IP addresses within a week.

Mentioned applications include:

  • Atom Clean-Booster – Antivirus;
  • Antivirus – Super Cleaner;
  • Alpha Antivirus – Cleaner;
  • Powerful Cleaner – Antivirus and Center Security – Antivirus.

Check Point reported its analysis and discovery to Google, which took action to remove the applications from the Play Store. The problem is that some of these applications still exist in the offer of unofficial application stores.

Users are advised to delete them immediately and change the passwords on their Google Accounts if they have installed any of these applications on their devices.
