Google is changing how people use its search engine. Instead of sending users to country-specific sites like google.co.uk or google.fr, Google will now send everyone to google.com by default. That means whether you’re in the UK, France, India, or anywhere else, your search will start from the main .com site.
The company says this is to make search more consistent. But you’ll still get local results based on where you are, using your device’s location—so it won’t mess up things like local news or nearby places.
If you usually go to a specific country’s version of Google, you’ll now have to set that manually. You can do it through the settings in the bottom-right corner of the Google homepage or search results page.
Google’s rolling this change out gradually, so you might not see it right away. They haven’t said exactly when it’ll hit everyone, but it’s coming soon.
