Free TV shows and movies on YouTube? Sure!

Just a week ago, Google phased out YouTube Vanced, a popular app that allowed users to enjoy content from this social network, but without ads and sponsored messages. Of course, this move led to great dissatisfaction among the users of this application, but Google was strong on this decision, and the creators of the Vanced application were forced to remove it from all download channels. Vanced will continue to work for some time, but when the support expires, that will be the end.

Now, it seems that Google is trying in some way to make up for this move (or this move was necessary to launch a new service), so they decided to offer users of their social network YouTube more than 4,000 thousand free episodes of some from very popular television series, such as Hell’s Kitchen, Heartland, Andromeda, and many others. In addition to free content, this could be the company’s first serious step into streaming water.

More than 1,500 licensed movies can be viewed on YouTube so far, and they became available in 2018, and the recent addition of over 4,000 episodes of TV shows only further expands the library of free movie and TV content on this social network.

Statistics show that more than 85% of households in the U.S. have a subscription to one or more streaming content services, while 18% of households also use one of the free streaming apps that generate revenue through ad sales.

So, with this move, YouTube wants to find its way to even more users, especially in the category of those who would like a dose of free content, and they don’t mind watching a few commercials during an episode of a favorite series or movie.

In addition to these 4,000 episodes, YouTube is also introducing a new way of navigating through this free content, as well as a new design for banners. According to Google, “The new visual atmosphere and menus will help users find their favorite content more easily, and users will be able to decide whether they want to rent it or watch it with ads.” So, for free, but with an unknown number of ads, and who wants to swing…

Some would say round and then on the corners, which certainly sounds like the modus operandi of today’s megacorporations. For now, it appears that this YouTube add-on is only available in the United States, and it is not known when it will appear in other locations.
