Bandcamp remains standalone, but Epic Games will help it expand further and introduce some completely new features to its platform.
Epic Games is taking over Bandcamp, a music platform aimed at musicians and record labels, they announced on the official blog.
“Epic and Bandcamp share a mission to build a platform that is most suitable for musicians and that allows creators to keep most of their hard-earned money. “Bandcamp will play an important role in Epic’s vision to build a creator market ecosystem for content, technology, games, art, music and more,” Epic said.
According to Ethan Diamond, co-founder and CEO of Bandcamp, this music platform will continue to operate independently and points out that the products and services to which users are accustomed, will not go anywhere.
“We will continue to build a Bandcamp around our revenue model for artists and will continue to have the same control over the way they offer their music. Bandcamp Fridays will continue as planned, and the Daily will continue to highlight diverse and amazing music on the platform, ”added Diamonds.
