Apple has been under attack from courts around the world for some time due to the payment policy on the App Store, and Musk has now turned to these Apple rules. He stated that “Apple’s store is like having a 30% tax on the Internet. Definitely not ok.”
He added that Apple charges developers ten times more than it should. Musk is just one in a series of people bothered by Apple’s payment policy on the App Store.

The Cupertino giant faced huge fines in the Netherlands, where he was fined about $55 million late last year precisely because of the rules regarding payments on the App Store. Apple recently sent a new rule proposal to the country, but it also appears to have been rejected, and the company is now facing additional penalties.
So Apple submitted its latest proposal late last month. Apple suggested that it would be possible to use the “or” payment system in the App Store, which means either Apple’s or a third-party payment system.
Apple also stated in the proposal that those developers who would use alternative payment systems would still owe Apple 27% of commissions on sales in the App Store, compared to 30% of what Apple takes from developers when using their payment system.
However, the Dutch regulatory body in charge of consumer and market issues reportedly rejected it. They said Apple’s proposal was “an improvement” over its previous ideas but was still “not good enough to comply with European and Dutch regulations.”
