Apple is reportedly working on its first foldable iPhone, expected to launch in 2026 as part of the iPhone 18 lineup. The device could be called the “iPhone 18 Fold.”
What to expect
- A foldable, book-style design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold.
- A 7.8-inch crease-free inner display with a near 4:3 aspect ratio.
- A 5.5-inch outer screen for use when folded.
- A titanium alloy body with a custom hinge made of titanium and stainless steel.
- Touch ID on the side instead of Face ID, likely due to how thin the device is (4.5mm unfolded, 9mm folded).
Big bet in a shrinking market

While foldable phone sales are slowing down—only a 5% growth expected in 2024 and possibly a decline in 2025—Apple’s entry might revive interest.
Premium price
The phone could cost between $2,100 and $2,300, making it even pricier than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The foldable iPhone is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026 alongside the rest of the iPhone 18 lineup.
