According to Reuters, the latest allegations are part of an ongoing investigation by the European Commission. The investigation is being conducted due to accusations made by Spotify, regarding the monopolistic behavior and practices that Apple led in the EU market.
It is suggested that this development could further strengthen the EU’s process against the Cupertino-based company, as well as other large IT companies.
Back in 2019, Spotify filed a complaint with the European Commission against Apple, accusing it of imposing rules from the App Store that “deliberately limit the choice and prevent innovation at the expense of user experience.”
Sources close to this topic suggest that the European Commission now plans to charge Apple with another antitrust lawsuit, which is expected in the next few weeks.
